Impact Week

Matthew 25:34-36 – “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’”
This year’s Impact Week will take place April 27-May 5 and our goal is to bless our community with the light and love of Jesus through a variety of service projects and supportive interaction.  We hope to have over 400 members of BSCC sign up to participate in at least one of over 20 projects we have available throughout these 9 days of service.  In these nine days, we’ve got multiple opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to serve, share, and shine the light of Jesus to others.  We’ve got physical work, social work, donations, and drives.  You can do things behind-the-scenes or you can take the stage.  You can cook, clean, gather, donate, distribute, assemble, sew, or build.  And we’ve got projects going on every day!  We hope to do a lot of good during Impact Week and we hope you’ll join us in serving our community.  Which one will you participate in?  How can you serve?  Who will you impact?

Impact Week Shirts

$10/Shirt

Help us share the light and love of Jesus by wearing your own Impact Week shirt while we serve!  It will be a unifying way to connect everyone to our mission and will also serve as a great way to share what BSCC is all about!  Orders will be taken through Thursday, April 11, and will be available for pick up at the Connection Point on Sunday, April 21.  Supplies are limited, so get yours while you can!

City Thrift Store Donations

Saturday, April 27 10:00am-2:00pm at BSCC

Bring your gently used items to the church for donation to City Union Mission’s City Thrift Store!  The donation truck will be at the Student Building tower doors and available from 10:00am-2:00pm.  City Thrift accepts household items, clothing, shoes, furniture, home décor, tools, and working electronics.  Check out their list of what can and can’t be donated below.  Clean out your house and help others in the process!
City Union Mission is happy to accept: Household items, Clothing & Shoes, Furniture, Home Décor, Tools & Electronics (flatscreen TVs, 2 years or newer, working condition only), and Collectibles.  Unfortunately, we are unable to accept every item. As a good steward of City Thrift and City Union Mission, on occasion, we must decline donations because of state health or safety regulations, unsatisfactory conditions, or merchandising reasons. Disposing of these items results in an expense to our charity. We cannot accept: Furniture with stains, tears, odors, or damage, Mattresses, Baby Cribs, Car Seats, In-home Gym Equipment, Some Electrical Items, Items Containing Gasoline or Chemicals, and Safety Recalled Items.

Cards of Encouragement

Sunday, April 28 8:00am-12:30pm at BSCC

Help us minister to incarcerated inmates by writing notes of encouragement to the men and women through Christian Prison Ministry.  CPM shares the gospel with inmates every week, encourages them in their faith, and equips them for re-entry into society with sound, biblical tools and resources.  If you would like to write a few notes of encouragement that will be given to an inmate, pick up some cards in the Connection Point on Sunday, April 28, and return them the following Sunday, May 5.  There are specific guidelines that need to be followed, and those will be available to pick up with the cards.  (Or if you prefer, make or purchase your own cards and bring them to the church on Sunday, May 5.)
